Government fell after the four parties that made up the coalition did not come to an understanding on migration policy.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, has submitted the coalition government's resignation to the King. The four parties that compose it did not come to an understanding on migration policy. The Executive will remain in office until a new government is chosen. On the streets, opinions are divided.
"I'm very happy to hear that the government has fallen because I didn't like what happened and the decisions they took in the last few years," says Bren, a resident of The Hague.
"It's not good for the Netherlands, for the Dutch people. They need stability in the current economic situation and of course the situation in Ukraine," says Johan Leenders, who also lives in The Hague.
Rutte, 56, in power since 2010, is the longest-serving prime minister in the Netherlands. He has already said that he would like to run for a fifth term, but that he will consult the party before making a final decision. There should be elections in November.
