US Congressional Committee wants to release Trump earnings

Tax returns from the former Republican president could be published in the coming days

It's a battle that's been going on for years, but it could end in the next few days. A committee of the United States Congress has announced that it should finally make public the income statements of Donald Trump, the same ones that the former president wanted to hide during his term.

That committee, with a Democratic majority, also released a report in which it was concluded that the Finance services did not comply with the necessary controls during the last republican presidency. The document raises several questions about business losses, donations made to charities and loan deductions to family members.

Some of the math has already been done by The New York Times, which conducted an investigation. In 2020, the paper calculated that Trump paid 16 times less taxes than the average taxpayer.

Two weeks ago, the Trump Organization, a real estate company, was found guilty of a tax fraud scheme, among others.

In all, 17 accusations were confirmed by a jury in New York, which determined that, for 15 years, the company avoided paying taxes with offers of benefits to executives, such as apartments and luxury cars.
